Golf included in Shanghai kindergarten’s ‘man cave’

According to the CCTV report embedded above, a “special kindergarten” in Shanghai is teaching its male students “how to be tougher” — and golf, apparently, is part of the recipe.

In an effort to “cultivate some of the best masculine traits valued by Chinese culture, such as bravery, courage, and a sense of responsibility,” the school has created a “man cave” of sorts, a guys-only room that includes such macho activities as baseball, archery, foosball, and cars. There’s also a mini sand battlefield with toy soldiers and weapons. And, yes, golf.

One student said, “I want to become a golf champion when I grow up.”

School officials said they thought such a room was necessary when they discovered that the students who cried on the first day of school were usually the boys.
